Weekend R&R

With the 9/11 ten year anniversary coming in on Sunday, it made it hard to be 110% happy.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I am happy and blessed that my family didn't have to go through such horrible tragedy, but even then, we were all affected by those events.  Seriously, every channel had something on about 9/11 and every time I balled like a baby.  J'Lee was concerned.  She tried to explain to buelo {my dad} what happened on that day.  Hearing a soon to be 4 year old tell the story is quite sweet too.  I only gave her small details. She will learn more about it in her History classes.  With that, it made for a lazy weekend. I slept. I slept alot. I guess cleaning that kitchen just sucked the life right out of me.  Guess I won't be doing that too often :D! I felt like I deserved a little R&R! Yes or Yes?!

J'Lee and I did get up Saturday morning and made some amazing french toast sticks. I will show pictures tomorrow.  They came out of her Kids Kitchen Cook Book. Who would have thought bread covered in Rice Krispie Treats would be so good!!! and she made them almost all by herself.

We did go to a party on Saturday and before you start saying, "those Salinas' are wild ones", I have to clarify it was a 75th birthday party.  Can you imagine how we were rockin' the place down? Actually I fit right in, I like to go to bed at 8:30. We took the kids too! Oye, this was going to be a disaster, I could already tell. I mean it was at the Country Club {a place we don't hang out at} and the party was for  a Board of Trustee member. It had disaster written all over it.

Here we are before the party.  Look at bub with his hair all slicked back. We spent Friday night at this restaurant where the waitress kept calling Jax a she.  I hate to correct her so Jax was a girl for the evening. Haha! Excuse the black eye, we are still getting over the bug bite we had last week.  So are you anxious to find out how the party went?  Well, it actually went fairly well.  The best part of the night was when the President of HSU and the first lady {is that what you call her} sat at our table.  This makes for very sweaty armpits.  This has happened to us 3 times already.  All I could think is if Jaxon throws this fork in his eye, I am so FIRED!!!  Jax stayed calm for the most part so I still have a job!!!

We spent Sunday getting ready for a crazy week! We went grocery shopping which I hate doing.  I managed to plan a menu for the week, bought all the food and then later realized we were not going to be home Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday! Ugh!!!

Here is J'Lee showing me her trick that she learned at Ruby's {the babysitter} I get nervous when my kids do these kind of things...

Here is buela and J'Lee doing zumba moves! Crazy girls!

Hope everyone has a great Monday! I will be on the road.  It's travel season!!! Woohoo!!
