The Olympics
Now that the 2008 Olympics are over...we can finally get to bed at a decent hour. I mean it was every night that we would hit the sack at 2 AM. Of course i would hit the couch around 10:00. Every now and then my eyes would pop open to watch Nastia do a routine. Let's just say my husband and I will have some great memories to reminisce on during the next 4 years. Jamie and I love sports, obviously since we both have degree's in physical education and I have a masters degree with the title "sports rec". So we got into the Olympics pretty hard core this year. Anything before 10:00 I watched and got extremely excited about but anything after, well, I sort of missed. I have a sleeping disorder! lol! Let's just say when 10:oo, Jamie would say 9:00, rolled around my eyes would start to close and it was hard to get them back open. So Jamie had the bright idea to pull the queen mattress that we have in the spare bedroom into the living room. HAHA!!! He thought this was better for us. He could stay up longer and I would "be in bed already". I have to giggle every time I think about us sleeping on this mattress so we could watch the Olympics. What a year for the USA!! Jamie and I will definitely have some great memories. Like having carpet burn from getting way too excited during every close race Michael Phelps was a part of. This was my way of making him go faster. Jamie almost hit his head on the ceiling a gazillion times as he jumped with anticipation and excitement. I have always been a huge fan of gymnastics so of course we did say a few choice words when Nastia and some of the men gymnasts were cheated!!! Beach volleyball was great too, but we were puzzled with the completely bare bodies on the beach as they flew around the court. Jamie and I asked each other on a daily bases "how do they keep from their privates from falling out, it's kinda gross!". The synchronized swimming had to be my favorite. What a sport!!! And Track...I mean I hate the sport (childhood memories)...ok I don;t hate it but I get sick thinking about it...was also exciting to watch. Hitting a the last hurdle, dropping the baton, and watching crazy fast runners was actually thrilling! As the final ceremony closed, and Bob Costas talked about the 2012 Olympics, I couldn't help think if the queen size mattress would be available!! There is nothing better than spending silly times with the person you have known for over 11 years. I guess that was the point of this long post!!!
