We had a game on Saturday and beat good ole HPU! We haven't beat them in a couple of years so you can't even imagine how excited we were. What was even better, we won on Jamie's birthday. Our job really is amazing especially in moments like these when you see the results of hard work. Cowgirl tradition is just awesomeness and will always be a part of our lives no matter how old we get and each girl that we coach always holds a special place in our hearts. I love being mom to all these girls. I have had lots and lots of daughters these past 7 years...can you see why I love girls so much!?
I have noticed a change in my house just recently. We are always on the go. Seriously just going, kids having to be good and sit and follow rules, blah blah blah. It gets old. I mean my kids always have to follow rules but sometimes I feel like we never just let them be kids. You know, yell and laugh out loud, twirl around, talk like a kid. Those things. Lately I have just noticed a change in both Jamie and I. We have just spent more time laughing. Letting the kids be kids. This has been unintentional. It's like God came over us with his grace and lifted that burden of always trying to please others through our kids. Sorry that my kids (Jaxon) makes you feel uncomfortable but he is loud and there is nothing wrong with being loud. In fact last night we spent 15 minutes before going to bed, "roaring" at each other. Jax would try to roar as loud as he could followed by J'Lee and then Jamie would just scare the kids with his roar. Then of course everybody would laugh at my roar because it was high pitch and more like a scream. These are moments that make my heart smile. Also this weekend we had to vote who ruled and who drooled:
It was unanimous: GIRLS RULE! Although those boys are pretty dang cute.
Jamie's mom and dad came down to help with the kids because not only did we have to coach but J'Lee had her first boy birthday party to attend. Now if you ask her about it she might get a little giddy and then smile so much that she can't talk. Maybe just a little school crush? Poor boy, he is the only boy in her class of 11. She adores him and we just couldn't miss his birthday party. Speaking of boys she asked me the other day. "Mom, when you and daddy kissed, is that when you became a Salinas?" "Well, when we got married, that's when I became a Salinas." "Mom, I don't ever want to get married!" "You will probably change your mind later." Just a bit overwhelmed by this conversation. Sweet girl is growing up and my prayer for her is that God gives her the most special prince she deserves and that her special day is one that she will never forget. I mean, I would prefer to keep her locked in her room but that might be a little cruel.
This girl is changing everyday. She is interacting so much with her brothers, especially Jett. The kids always have a blast when they see their Grammy and Pappy. Jax had a great time showing his Pappy all his cool cars that he got for Christmas and J'Lee wanted to show off her barbies. They played and exhausted all games and I am sure exhausted their grandparents. We didn't get to spend time with them but the kids did. We ended Saturday night eating Wholly Cow Hamburgers. Ever eaten there? If you are in Abilene it's a must. We love their fries!
Sunday we took Jamie out to eat breakfast and then mom made steaks, bacon wrapped jalepenos and Jamie made some awesome shrimp. I don't like shrimp but he nailed it this time. I whipped up a strawberry cake and we sang happy birthday with a match as a candle. Jamie is such a good sport!
You gotta love blurry iPhone pictures but it gets the point across! WE LOVE OUR DADDY! They all pretty much look like their daddy, but the one in the diaper...not so sure.
